Wilson’s Phalarope (Phalaropus tricolor)
Yet another song coming from the rhythms of a bird in motion, in this case a hyperactive swimming shorebird that spins in tight circles on the water’s surface. This is another uncommon species in New York, occasionally seen around Jamaica Bay during fall migration. As in the spotted sandpiper, the more colorful female phalaropes leave the males at the nest once the eggs are laid - hence my title.
Lehman's most emotional and most beautiful album to date. This album manages to be complex and extremely interesting to listen to while also feeling like a strong expression of emotion. Lehman's trio is incredible as usual, and they synergize perfectly with Craig Taborn. rat
i was at 2 of these shows and they were a highlight of the year for me, so glad to see this music released -- the interplay is incredible and the interpretations are so fresh. the recording quality is excellent as well. e123
The seventh full-length from De Beren Gieren walks the line between spooky library music and free improv, shapeshifting constantly. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 12, 2024
This music has everything I need: acoustic instruments, a slow build, layers of atypical harmonies and rhythms being added each pass through, subtle melodies and combinations. Excellent work! Little James
